Sóley - Mother Melancholia

10.20.2021

With three solo LPs under her belt, Icelandic musician sóley, is back with Mother Melancholia. This new concept album sees sóley moving away from indie-pop to create the soundtrack to the end of the world as we know it. Using an accordion to begin writing many of the songs, she was able to experiment with a whole new range of new and exciting sounds. The album chronicles the end of the world culminating with Earth’s final moments. Mother Melancholia is finds the artist confidently exploring new sonic territory with the aim of expressing the real person inside of her. The music might be shrouded in darkness, but this is a move that fills her with joy and light.

Trupa Trupa!

06.02.2019

Fall is heating up. We are pumped to announce that we will be release Polish based Trupa Trupa’s newest record this fall.  The band blew us away at this year’s Iceland Airwaves and have gone on to build amazing press and release a stellar single with Sub Pop.  The new full length is 12 darkly layered and nuanced anthems all recorded, produced and mixed by Michal Kupicz in GdaÅ„sk's Custom 34 studios.

Of The Sun will be out on September 13th, released in Europe with our friends at Glitterbeat Records, in Japan with Moorworks Records and in Poland with Antena Krzyku Records. More news and tour dates to follow.

“Trupa Trupa are an art rock band from Gdansk. Fusing elements of post-hardcore, no wave and psychedelia, the four-piece exude a restless energy that bears the hallmarks of Fugazi’s uncompromising punk ethos…the band weave absurd lyrics through liquifying guitar riffs, angular bass lines and concise percussion.” -- The Wire

The Mercury Program’s A Data Learn the Language Reissue on 2xLP.

09.18.2018

On November 2nd, we will reissue The Mercury Program’s third full-length A Data Learn the Language on 2xLP.

Long out of print and extremely hard to find on wax, the record has been recut by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service and will be pressed on colored vinyl with a gatefold sleeve. To celebrate the release, the band will head out for two weeks worth of concert dates across the East coast. These shows will include two full sets — the first set consists of songs drawn from Chez Viking (2009) and New Myths (2016), followed by a second set featuring of A Data Learn the Language performed in its entirety.

Some background: originally released in 2002 on CD by Tiger Style, the vinyl version of A Data Learn the Language was left to Counterflow Records. However, as that label became caught up in legal and financial difficulties, the bulk of the pressing mysteriously disappeared. Fewer than 100 copies wound up making it into circulation.
